In a private phone call, he called the US response to the epidemic a "complete disaster."

Obama also said he wants to play a bigger role in supporting Biden in the November presidential election.

According to CNN, Barack Obama's new remarks were made in a call aimed at encouraging former staff to work on Biden's campaign.
